Pastor David continues through Hebrews and focuses on Hebrews 2:1–4, highlighting the warning against “drift,” not as an intentional rejection of Christ, but a slow pull away caused by the gravitational pressures of the world, comfort-seeking, and neglect of spiritual disciplines. He uses running and marathon training as an analogy: you don’t quit all at once, you fall “out of practice,” lose vision for the prize, and gradually stop doing what keeps you sharp. He then explains the phrase “message spoken through angels,” connecting it to the law given at Sinai and how Second Temple Judaism and New Testament texts speak of angels as intermediaries. From there he emphasizes God’s active work through angelic assistance and protection, while keeping the focus on the central warning: drifting can lead toward ignoring “so great a salvation,” which carries real consequences. The call is to stay the course, trust Christ, pursue the ultimate prize, and remain anchored in the salvation Jesus announced and God confirmed through witnesses, signs, wonders, miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
